What is home to you?

This seems like an odd question to pose, but the more I ponder the word home, the more I realize that for me home is not a physical place as much as it is a feeling I have in a place. As a military spouse, I've lived in many different places and had many different homes. Some for 9 months and some for 5 years. There have been times when my family has moved away from one home and begun our journey to our new assignment having no home waiting for us on the other end. Other times, a house has been waiting for us but move in day is the first time we set foot in our new home. Somehow, all these places manage to become home. How? How do these strange, unfamiliar places earn the right to be called home and conjure up all the love and comfort that the word home embodies? The memories created, the traditions started and carried forward, the milestones achieved, the quiet conversations shared make a house a home. As my daughter begins here sophomore year in high school I am facing the stark reality that children grow up quickly and they won't be home forever. Now is the time to capture the memories; now is the time to capture the love in your home with your family. Your house may change, your children will grow but a family photo session will preserve your memories and keep them from fading.
