Weathering the Storm...
As I edited my first engagement session pictures of Caroline and Kyle I found myself reflecting on the journey love takes. My husband and I have been married for almost 19 years; our love story began on the beaches of Oahu; pretty perfect and picturesque. Our engagement portrait taken on the beach he proposed to me on is still my favorite picture of the two of us; and still hangs on our wall. This engagement shoot was filled with curve balls and stressors; much like a marriage. Partly cloudy skies were forecast; instead we had torrential rain, thunder and flash flood warnings. This couple was committed to moving forward with the session so I quickly changed locations to the Historic Pearl . The vibe changed from the dreamy hillside golden hour shoot we had envisioned to a bit of a wet, if not a little moody, parking garage. The sunlight was missing but the connection was not! Love is a journeying which we set forth with a partner and know not where it will take us. If Caroline and Kyle can handle the curve balls of life as they literally and figuratively weathered the storm of their engagement shoot then their love journey will take them far. And perhaps, 19 years later, one of their engagement pictures will still hang on the wall of their house somewhere.
