Timing is Everything...tips on scheduling your senior portrait session
A question I am commonly asked is, "When should seniors take their senior pictures?" My guidance is that it should work best with the senior's schedule and the aesthetic the senior wants in his/her pictures. If your senior wants lots of drippy golden sunlight , the sparkle of the river and huge cypress trees along the riverbank in the background then summer is the perfect time to schedule. Especially if your senior's schedule is more flexible without the demands of school and activities. If your senior would like to incorporate a sport's session to highlight their accomplishments then schedule around when they will have uniforms, medals, etc. to incorporate into the session. Want to include a Varsity jacket? Your senior may appreciate a fall/winter session for that. School breaks are also a great time to plan a session. I love to utilize the mornings of fall and winter breaks to take photos at locations that are typically busy in the evenings otherwise. School breaks are also a great time to work around a busy senior year schedule. But what about cap and gown pictures? This year I will have two options. If you schedule a senior session for July or August, you will receive a complimentary cap and gown mini session in the spring when your senior has his/her cap and gown. This complimentary mini session will include 3 digital images. If you schedule your senior session at a different time but would still like cap and gown pictures then I will be offering a cap and gown add on session. This may be added to any senior package that occurs before your senior has his/her cap and gown. Also consider how you would like to use your images when you schedule. Would you like to order graduation announcements that include a senior picture? A late spring session may not provide enough time to do that. Your senior gallery will be linked to a store with card ordering options for your convenience. There is no universal "best" time for a senior session; only a what works best for your senior.
